Addiction Recovery Programs in Florida

Addiction recovery programs offer some of the very best chances for lasting recovery by giving people the psychological and physical assistance they need to handle drug usage and withdrawal and, in the long-\term, effectively treat their substance use disorder (SUD).

Those prepared to turn their lives around have a number of drug and alcohol recovery choices and a variety of treatment settings to choose from– consisting of inpatient, residential, outpatient, in addition to recovery fellowships and support group meetings.

Why a Florida Recovery Program

Florida is uniquely positioned to be one of the leaders in advanced recovery programs in America. The location of Florida provides a tranquil environment for someone to start fresh and begin a life of recovery. While there are a variety of recovery options across the country, Florida has had an established footing in addiction treatment since the early 80’s. Throughout these years, the Florida model for addiction treatment has developed and improved to become highly effective.

The Florida Model is a more affordable treatment option that can be a stepping stone in between a stay in a rehab center, and a return to the individual’s life prior to treatment. Recovering individuals live together in a house that they pay rent for. Rent is usually cheaper than what they would discover than if they were searching on their own. They hold part-time jobs and participate in therapy and other treatment sessions at a close-by center that is connected with their sober house. This model phases individuals into their normal everyday life as opposed to leaving a highly structured treatment setting and jumping straight back into their previous life – often without support.

Whether due to privacy concerns or to minimize the chance to leave when times get tough, Florida has been a popular destination to travel for rehabilitation. Not only does Florida offer remote and discrete treatment, but also provides a variety of relaxing qualities to better transition into a new life of sobriety.

Florida has some of the best beaches in the world. Also, many of the major cities in Florida like Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Tampa offer countless activities from dining, museums, hiking, water sports, and social clubs to provide safe fun during a normally stressful time associated with early recovery.

Florida Recovery Programs Compared to California’s

When people think of drug and alcohol rehab facilities, they may first think of ones like Passages Malibu. What people might not know is that these “high-end” or “luxury rehabs” can be a significant financial burden. This is often the case with many facilities in California due to the extra costs of the state like state taxes and costs of living.

While these facilities might look amazing and gorgeous, they often focus more on the amenities and less on the medical treatment that leads to long-term sobriety. Many florida recovery programs are often small and intimate – leading to more personalized treatments focusing on learning and adapting to abstinence.

Wonderful! Coalition is the best of the best! The staff are not only professional, educated, and welcoming, but extremely passionate about loving and treating people who battle the disease of addiction. What makes Coaltion stand out from the rest is their aftercare program, where you'll be supported and counseled by the same staff who worked with you while you were inpatient. A "coalition" is an alliance for combined action, but this treatment facility is more than that: it's a family.

The opportunity to go to Coalition recovery is the best gift my mother has ever given me. From the moment I walked in the front door I felt a huge weight lift and I knew that if I put in the work my life was about to improve exponentially. Every staff member that works there has a huge heart and I felt more than comfortable sharing my inner most secrets with them and asking for help and advice. They have helped me overcome extreme anxiety and depression issues, have helped grow my feeling of self worth, they have led me in the right direction to have a fulfilling life and have made me truly excited for my future. I took advantage of every opportunity they gave me. They even have a program that will get you on track to pursue a degree! I was fearful that I would never be able to succeed in college and I am thrilled to tell them about all of my successes! Dr. Val is my personal therapist and I can not say enough nice things about how she has helped me. I truly value her opinions and how she challenges me. I do not know where I would be or how I would be doing without her. If you are truly ready to change your life and willing to do the work and stay open minded Coalition will be the place that turns your life around. Every clinitian and staff member is completely dedicated and invested in my well being and I am excited to stay in contact and be one (of their many) success stories! Thank you Coalition Recovery!

The Addiction Recovery Process at a Glance

Florida Therapy

Many begin their addiction recovery process with a period of detoxification (detox), where the body rids itself of the toxic influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Detox permits the body to restore itself to a stable starting point from which drug use treatment efforts can better begin. While precise detox procedures are likely to vary, medical detox programs might make use of particular medications to handle withdrawal symptoms, when appropriate.

During addiction recovery, individuals in treatment may also go through numerous types of therapy and participate in support groups as they work to address and heal the attitudes, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may otherwise support continued, problematic substance use.

Ongoing involvement in therapy and support systems might continue long after the initial duration of treatment as they continue to offer long lasting recovery advantages for numerous individuals.

Put simply, recovery programs can range from detox, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, support groups, or most likely a combination of all of them throughout the recovery journey.

Inpatient Recovery Programs

Residential or inpatient recovery programs are able to use a fairly extensive, immersive treatment experience for those looking to recover from addiction. The nature of an inpatient setting allows treatment team members to offer day-and-night guidance to clients.

Individuals at hospital-based facilities stay overnight and have access to doctors, nurses, or other healthcare specialists 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Other residential centers located outside of a hospital should have the ability to arrange for quick access to medical services, when needed, should a healthcare expert not be on-site at the time.

Inpatient programs make every effort to offer a safe, supportive environment for patients while giving them the tools they require to attain long-term abstinence. The length of stay in any inpatient or residential recovery program will be affected by the nature and seriousness of the SUD.

Luxury rehabilitation is a type of residential treatment that provides addiction recovery care against a background of preferable settings or surroundings and with access to a number of high-end amenities.

What to Expect From Inpatient Recovery Programs

Inpatient recovery programs vary and though not every program will use all components, here are some of the more frequently encountered treatment components:

  • Medical supervision – particularly when extreme withdrawal is a danger,
  • Prescription and management of treatment medications.
  • A detailed psychiatric evaluation.
  • Dual diagnosis care – where health experts simultaneously treat any coexisting psychological or medical health conditions.
  • Family, individual, and group therapy.
  • Support group meeting participation.
  • Relapse prevention education.

Many inpatient and residential programs host aftercare programs and/or will help clients prepare an aftercare regimen to help with ongoing recovery services even after graduation. As part of a strong aftercare routine, after leaving an inpatient center, clients regularly attend group sessions. Support systems help individuals preserve sobriety by offering peer and mentor relationships along with a range of “tools” that help individuals maintain abstinence.

Outpatient Recovery Programs

For some individuals whose situations or conditions do not require a full-time, residential recovery process, outpatient treatment may be a practical rehab option. In an outpatient recovery program, individuals go through addiction rehabilitation while living at their own homes. It can cost less than inpatient treatment and is usually better for people who have a substantial support system. Outpatient treatment varies in kinds of services available. While outpatient programs do not include residing on the premises of a center, particular outpatient designs, consisting of extensive day treatment, can be similar to residential programs in services and efficiency, depending upon the private client’s characteristics and needs.

In numerous outpatient programs, group therapy may be a significant component. Outpatient behavioral treatment may include a variety of programs for clients who consult with a behavioral health therapist frequently, including private and group counseling. The kinds of behavior modification may include the following:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy: which helps patients acknowledge, avoid, and deal with the scenarios in which they are prone to use drugs.
  • Multidimensional family therapy: developed for teenagers with substance abuse problems in addition to their families.
  • Motivational interviewing: makes the most of an individual’s readiness to alter their habits and enter treatment.
  • Motivational incentives (contingency management): which uses positive reinforcement to encourage sobriety from drugs.
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy: This therapy focuses on helping an individual deal with past trauma(s). We offer this unique treatment here at Coalition Recovery where many facilities might not as they focus mainly on substance use disorders and mental health. However, we believe trauma is one of the largest driving factors in many addiction cases.

Treatment might at first be extensive and after that, after completing extensive treatment, the client might transfer to regular outpatient treatment, where the program involves less sessions for a shorter amount of time weekly.

While outpatient programs do not include living on the properties of a facility, particular outpatient models, including intensive day treatment, can be similar to residential programs in services and effectiveness, depending on the specific patient’s qualities and requirements.

While particular healing methods will be similarly used in both outpatient and inpatient recovery settings, outpatient treatment is not always best for everybody. Many individuals need more intensive inpatient recovery treatment– including chronic substance users with significant physical dependence and withdrawal risks, in addition to those with existing medical or mental health conditions.

Oftentimes, individuals in recovery benefit significantly from the help and support of others who are also recuperating from addiction. Many recovery support groups fall into two broad classifications: 12-step support system and non-12-step support groups. In either case, support groups can be really helpful when used as additional or continuous support– either alongside, or after completion of– other recovery approaches such as official rehabilitation programs. This is due to the fact that important pillars of recovery like counseling and medications are not involved in support groups.

Support groups might differ from each other, depending on the treatment techniques used and whether the group is a 12-step or a non-12-step group. Various support group meeting environments may feel rather similar in that they consist of a relatively small grouping of participants sharing recovery wisdom with their peers. Non-12-step groups in some cases include less group sharing circumstances; which can provide some relief for those individuals who aren’t as comfortable sharing sensitive individual information in group settings. Below are a couple of examples of non-12-step programs:.

Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS). SOS exists as a nonreligious option to the more spiritual 12-step addiction recovery programs. Unlike other addiction recovery programs, participation of RR support systems is not considered necessary once an individual has found out the techniques.
